FOOD DRIVE

Please don't forget about our Food Drive. We are collecting cans and boxes of food for the Metrocrest Service Center for the next two weeks. The class bringing in the most food items wins popcorn for every child in December.

Second Grade News Update

Hi Fans of Second Grade! We just finished our Thanksgiving lunch with parents and though it was a little chaotic, we all had a terrific family time and enjoyed the yummy dinner (especially the pumpkin pie!)

The students held conferences with their parents on Tuesday evening after a tremendous musical performance in the cafeteria. My, we have a talented group this year! Thanks, Ms. Phillips for an outstanding time!

Continuing our study of weather, landforms, and non-fiction literature keeps us busy!

If you are planning on traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday, be sure to take Flat Stanley with you and snap some photos for our International Flat Stanley display.

Second Grade Fans

What kind of clouds produce hail? What makes fog? What does an anemometer measure? Second graders will be finding out the answers to these questions and many more in their How the World Works planner, a study of weather. This planner will take us to December 11. It fits in nicely with our Language Arts Unit on non-fiction literature. We'll be doing lots of reading on clouds, weather instruments, storms, and how meteorologists predict the weather. (Maybe we can discover why they always seem to do such a poor job of it!)

This week we're looking forward to a storyteller that our terrific librarians are bringing us, and we begin a new unit in Social Studies on natural resources and landforms.

Don't forget about our student led conferences on November 10, right after the PTA performance. We're preparing lots of neat things to show our parents!

Happy November from your second grade team,
Mrs. Reinhard, Mrs. Otero, Mrs. Hohman, Mrs. Anderson, and Ms. Nardozza
